In several jurisdictions it is also unlawful without consent. The SMTP handshake gives you deliverability confidence without ever delivering a message, which is precisely why the industry uses it. Deliverable: cleaned CSV or Excel with each address classified as valid, invalid, risky, disposable, role or unknown, rather than a single pass or fail, plus a summary of what was removed and why.
