Project Overview I am seeking an experienced Power Electronics and PCB Layout Engineer to design a universal 12V Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) charger PCBA. These chargers will be used for heavy-duty agricultural sprayer equipment, meaning they must withstand severe rural grid voltage fluctuations (90V - 280V AC) and physical vibration. The Manufacturing Strategy (Crucial) We are utilizing a flexible, high-volume manufacturing strategy. We will import the base PCBAs from China with all SMD components pre-populated. Our local factory will hand-solder the heavy THT components (Transformers, Capacitors, Shunts, Displays, and MCU Jumpers) to dictate the final specs. We need two physical board layouts that share the exact same mechanical footprint, mounting holes, and MCU logic: Board A (Low Power): 12V @ 1.7A routed on single-sided FR1 material. Board B (High Power): 12V @ 2.0A and 2.5A routed on double-sided FR4 material with PTH. The Logic Architecture Both boards will utilize the same ultra-low-cost 8-bit MCU (e.g., Padauk or CH32). The layout must include THT jumper pins connected to the MCU to allow our assembly workers to select between three charging profiles: Lead-Acid (Bulk to Float) 3S Lithium-Ion (12.6V Cutoff) 4S LiFePO4 (14.4V Cutoff) The board must also feature a universal 6-pin THT header routed to the MCU to support three different local display plug-ins (Basic LED, 5-LED Array, or Digital % Screen). Key Responsibilities & Deliverables Schematic Capture & PCB Layout: Design the SMPS circuit focusing on thermal management, high-voltage isolation (creepage/clearance), and single-sided routing constraints for the FR1 board. DFM (Design for Manufacturing): Ensure the design is optimized for Chinese PCB assembly (e.g., JLCPCB, PCBWay) and utilizes highly available, low-cost domestic Asian components (ICs, MOSFETs) to keep the BOM cost strictly under budget. Production Files: Deliver complete Gerber files, Drill files, Pick-and-Place data (CPL), and a highly organized BOM.
