I saw it was reposted, but could not apply there. Hi, I do have previous experience on converting a vb.net app to the modern .net. You can see in my portfolio about a POS desktop application. Goal was to convert a 1998 vb.net application to modern .net application with increased support, feature and coding standards, keeping the visual styles and path same so that previous clients of the POS application did not require training again. I have to say, this was not a nice journey. I had to recode thousands of lines of code. At that era (pre 2020), use of other modern tools was not present, and it required much more time than the aforementioned project. There was no doc and setting up the app was tedious. My version installed with almost zero dependency and installed everything needed from online, had a basic sql db to start with. Easing up the installation. That being said, I have to say, I was successful at my job, as the employer kept me for development for much longer than agreed at start and had given other side project side by side to maintain the old one. Now, without seeing the extent of the project and complexity, I cannot comprehend the amount of work needed. So initially, I would prefer a milestone based fixed rated budget. I would complete a task and get paid for it. As our relations grows better and I get better on the project, we can come up with a system of fixed budget/fixed hourly rate.
