Robotics Fleet Technician – Melbourne, Australia Hullbot is an Australian robotics company building autonomous robots that operate underwater on ship hulls, helping vessels reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Our technology is already deployed across Australia, the US and Mexico, we’re establishing operations in Canada, and we’re continuing to expand our operational capability across Australia. We’re looking for someone based in Melbourne to deploy and operate our robots on real commercial vessels and become part of our growing global operations team. What you’ll do Deploy and recover autonomous marine robots on vessels Work hands-on with the robots, including direct operation when required Prepare equipment and ensure mission readiness Monitor and support live robotic missions Work alongside Hullbot’s remote operations / TeleOps teams Produce mission reports, including photos and robot performance reports Perform field checks and basic troubleshooting Help maintain and prepare the local robotic fleet between missions Work around ports, vessels and some seriously impressive ships Help us scale our operations in Melbourne and across Australia You’ll be trained properly. You do not need to already be a robotics expert. Hullbot is headquartered in Sydney with established operations across Australia and internationally. You’ll receive a structured onboarding and training program, combining hands-on training with our robots and remote support from experienced Hullbot team members. Once you're trained, you won't be on your own. You'll have ongoing support from Hullbot people across Australia and around the world, as well as our remote TeleOps capability. You’ll be joining a global team learning every day how to deploy increasingly autonomous robotic systems at scale. Who are we looking for? Someone technical, hands-on, curious, dependable and genuinely excited by technology. Experience with robotics, drones, ROVs, marine operations, electronics, mechanics, engineering or technical field work is great, but attitude and practical ability matter just as much. You’ll need to: Be based in or around Melbourne Have the right to work in Australia Communicate comfortably in English Be available for night operations — ships don't work 9–5 Be able to travel interstate and occasionally overseas when missions require it. Hullbot covers travel expenses Be comfortable working around water, ports and vessels If you see an autonomous robot crawling around the underwater hull of a ship and your first reaction is: “I want to work with that.” We want to hear from you. When applying, tell us where you're based, what technical or hands-on experience you have, and whether you can work nights and travel. A +25% loading applies to night-shift hours between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Come and meet our team for a trial as soon as Tuesday/Wednesday !

I'm a Melbourne-based IT Professional/ Field Service Engineer with close to 5 years of hands-on experience. I have a strong interest in joining Hullbot as a Robotics Fleet Technician. What immediately attracted me to this opportunity is the combination of advanced technology, hands-on field work, troubleshooting, and real-world operations. While my professional background is in IT rather than marine robotics, I believe my technical and field-service experience provides a strong foundation for learning to operate, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot autonomous robotic systems. I understand that this role involves working around ports, vessels and water, night operations, interstate travel and potentially overseas missions. I’m based in Melbourne and am comfortable with field-based work, flexible hours, night operations and travel when required. I also understand the importance of following safety procedures, communicating clearly with remote teams, and maintaining reliable mission documentation. Most importantly, I’m the type of person who enjoys getting hands-on with technology and figuring out how things work. The opportunity to learn Hullbot’s autonomous marine robotics technology and contribute to real commercial missions is exactly the type of technical challenge I’m looking for. I’d welcome the opportunity to meet the Hullbot team, undertake a trial, and demonstrate my technical ability, work ethic and willingness to learn. Thank you!

For over three years I have worked in IT Support roles that required hands-on technical problem-solving, preparing and maintaining equipment for readiness, diagnosing and resolving issues in live environments, and producing clear reports. This has developed strong practical skills in troubleshooting systems, supporting remote and on-site users, following procedures under time pressure, and ensuring equipment is mission-ready. I am comfortable working with technical systems, documenting outcomes accurately (including photos and performance notes), and collaborating with remote teams to keep operations running smoothly. I am technical, hands-on, curious about new technology, and dependable. While I do not have prior robotics or marine experience, I learn systems thoroughly through structured training and practical application — exactly the approach Hullbot describes. I am based in Melbourne and ready for the operational nature of the work around ports and vessels, including deployment, recovery, equipment preparation, field checks, and supporting live missions alongside your TeleOps teams. I would welcome the opportunity to bring my practical technical experience and reliable approach to helping scale Hullbot’s operations in Melbourne and across Australia. Thank you for considering my application. I am available to discuss next steps at your convenience. Kind regards,
