I'm setting up an ecommerce platform that's a little different to a standard setup.
Some key differences from the standard setup are:
- All customers will be referred by an Agent via encoded links
- Agents should be able to login to the admin interface, but only see their own customers and their orders.
- 99% of customers will browse on mobile
- Login / Authentication will be through WeChat
- Most users will be using the store within the WeChat app's browser
The WeChat stuff is fairly easy, and it really just an alternate authenticator.. When they browse inside WeChat, the WeChat JS SDK can be used to detect the user, so they can be automatically logged in.
The harder part is probably the Agent stuff. This will probably require new tables in the database and extra logic.
It is similar in some ways to multi-vendor logic, so it is possible that multi-vendor could be adapted for this.. But from my knowledge, multi-vendor is aimed at vendors maintaining product content only..
The project would probably also require a custom theme to be built.
I haven't found any existing templates that implement the mobile interface exactly how I'd like it. They mostly seem to be desktop-first, with mobile as an afterthought.
As the users will mostly be viewing on mobile, I'd like the theme to perform more app-like. It will include static header and footer bars for main functions and navigation. For example, cart, category menu, profile, search etc will all have icons in the header. Footer will show Price, qty "Add to cart" button when viewing products for instance.
We'll design the screens, but will require implementation. This may be stage 2 though. We might be happy to initially launch with a standard theme.
