Design and simulate a power supply that is able to take 120 Vrms input signal and deliver a nominal 5VDC output at 25mA with ~1% ripple at the rectifier (e.g. before the regulator).
Note that your power supply must contain a rectifier and a regulator circuit. No restriction is imposed regarding which rectifier topology to use.
In your design phase, you can use any value of circuit component needed in order to make the equations work. However, once you have done this, go to a component website (e.g. [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] etc.) and find real components that you could purchase and choose ones that are as close to your calculated values for your simulations (note the cost).
In your write-up, make sure to:
Compute all the equations that you need to and include them in the write-up. (Show your work)
List all values for all circuit elements in a table, including the cost for the individual component (both calculated values, and chosen values)
Show circuit schematics.
Show voltage output charts for each node in the circuit.
Show relevant current charts.
Compute the PIV, ISC, and IP for your circuit.
Include a discussion on designing this circuit to handle PIV, ISC, IP.
Discuss trade-offs between the topology that you chose vs. the other topologies we discussed in class.
Calculate the cost of your circuit.
Note discrepancies between your computed answers and those in simulation. Discuss why the differences may exist.
I'm having a hard time with the equations and the schematic for this project. I'm using Tina-TI simulation software.
