Hi there, I carefully reviewed your 24-hour clock prototype requirements, including the Arduino-based controller, RTC timekeeping, selectable LED display modes, and the need for a clean, reproducible hardware setup. I am a mechatronics engineer with almost half a decade of experience in embedded electronics, hardware prototyping, electronic circuit design, and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB. This background is directly relevant to integrating the Arduino, RTC module, LED interface, and mode-selection controls into a reliable prototype. Because embedded hardware and system integration are already part of my core skillset, I can approach the project efficiently while keeping the design simple, maintainable, and easy to reproduce. I can also help select a practical LED-driving approach and prepare clear wiring and component documentation. Please send me a message so we can discuss the project and start. Hello, The main challenge here is building a reliable 24-hour LED clock with a DS3231 RTC, three selectable display modes, and a clean, repeatable Arduino wiring design. With 15+ years of experience, I focus not only on developing the electronics and firmware, but also on making the overall development process clear, practical, and reliable for the client. I have developed embedded controllers involving RTCs, sensors, LEDs, microcontrollers, and complete prototype hardware, so I can handle both the Arduino firmware and the practical hardware implementation. I can provide a working prototype with: * All 3 LED display modes and mode switching * Stable RTC timekeeping with DS3231 * Fully commented Arduino sketch * Clear wiring/schematic diagram * Complete BOM with specific parts and sources * Short programming and startup instructions I can also recommend the most practical preconfigured LED module to keep the prototype simple, reliable, and easy to reproduce. Hi, I am an electronics and embedded engineer experienced with Arduino-based control, RTC timing, LED driver circuits, and prototype hardware documentation. I have built MCU systems using DS3231-class RTCs, GPIO/shift-register LED control, switch inputs, and modular wiring suitable for repeatable bench assembly. Approach: ✅ I will define the 24-LED architecture and choose a reliable driver method such as shift registers or a dedicated LED driver to avoid overloading Arduino GPIO. ✅ I will integrate the RTC and mode selector, then implement all three display modes with clean state handling and stable hourly updates. ✅ I will provide the commented Arduino sketch, wiring/schematic diagram, BOM with exact parts, and a short upload/startup guide. ✅ I will structure the prototype so the LED section can later be transferred easily to a custom PCB if required. Questions: ✅ Do you want exactly 24 individual LEDs arranged as a clock face, line, or another physical layout? ✅ Should the clock time be set manually through code/buttons, or synchronized from another source? ✅ Is Mode 3 required in the first prototype, or should Modes 1 and 2 be the priority? Best, Yaroslav

Hi, Bojan here, from Serbia. Building your device in Arduino comes down to one thing: a device that behaves the same in the field as on the bench. I'm a senior embedded and electronics engineer with 8+ years of experience working with Arduino, Electronics and Embedded Systems. The real challenge is real conditions: timing, power use, noisy signals and flaky wireless behave differently outside the lab. A common issue: testing only on the bench, so problems appear once the device runs in real conditions. My plan: first, review the schematic, pin map and timing requirements. Then, write the firmware in small modules, each tested on the board. Finally, test on the real hardware under load, power loss and bad signal. I've done firmware work in Arduino. A few questions to better understand the scope: 1. Will it run near motors or long cables? Electrical noise there corrupts readings, so I test for it early. 2. Log raw readings during testing? I'd recommend it, you compare against a reference instead of guessing. 3. Who uses the device, engineers or everyday users? Everyday users need clear status lights and safe defaults. I can start right away. I'm on CET, so our working hours overlap. Happy to go over the details here in chat and suggest the best approach. Looking forward to hearing from you, Bojan

Thank you for the opportunity to propose the development of your Arduino-based LED clock prototype. Our goal is to deliver a working, well-documented prototype that proves the concept, looks good, and can be readily refined for small-batch production. We will begin with a short requirements phase to define the display style (7-segment digits, a WS2812B/NeoPixel ring or matrix, or a custom layout), desired features such as date, temperature, alarm, brightness control, or animations, and the target power source and enclosure size. Based on this, we will select the microcontroller (for example an Arduino Nano, Uno R4, or ESP32 if Wi-Fi/NTP time sync is wanted) and a timekeeping solution, typically a DS3231 real-time clock module for accuracy and battery backup. In the build phase, we will design the circuit and assemble it on a breadboard, then move to a soldered prototype or a custom PCB if desired. Our work will cover wiring and power budgeting for the LEDs, level shifting and decoupling where needed, and an ambient light sensor for automatic dimming. The firmware will be written in clean, commented C++ using established libraries, and will include time display and setting logic via buttons or a rotary encoder, daylight saving handling, and smooth, flicker-free LED updates. If you wish, we can also design a 3D-printed or laser-cut enclosure with a diffuser so the LEDs produce an even, attractive glow.

Hello, I would approach this less as a simple Arduino exercise and more as a small, clean product prototype. My preference would be to keep the hardware architecture very simple: let the RTC handle timekeeping independently, let the Arduino only interpret the current hour and selected mode, and use an LED-driving method that avoids unnecessary wiring and makes the final assembly easy to reproduce. For the first prototype, I would focus on making Mode 1 absolutely reliable first, then build Modes 2 and 3 on the same logic rather than writing three separate control routines. That keeps the firmware compact and makes later modification much easier. I would also select the LED solution based on the physical appearance you want. If this is mainly a functional prototype, an addressable LED ring or similar module could reduce wiring significantly. If the final appearance must resemble the eventual product more closely, I would use discrete LEDs with a dedicated driver. I can provide the firmware, wiring diagram, BOM, and a clear startup guide so the prototype can be rebuilt without depending on me. Best regards, Nichita

RP2040).

Are you looking for an Arduino and embedded-systems specialist to develop your functional 24-hour LED clock prototype? I have completed similar electronics and embedded-control projects, with 5+ years of experience in circuit design, microcontrollers, and hardware development. I can develop the clock using an Arduino Uno and a DS3231 RTC module, with a switch to select the three display modes. For the first prototype, I suggest using a 24-LED arrangement with suitable driver circuitry to keep the wiring clean and ensure reliable operation. I’ll structure the code so each mode is easy to understand and modify, with stable timekeeping and clear handling of mode changes. Deliverables A fully commented Arduino sketch supporting all three modes, a clear schematic and wiring diagram, a component BOM with specific part numbers and sourcing suggestions, and a concise guide for uploading the code, setting the RTC, and bringing the prototype into operation. Please share any preferred LED arrangement or enclosure concept. I can then confirm the hardware approach, fixed price, and delivery schedule.

Dear Client, The key decision here is not the Arduino—it is how the 24 LEDs are driven. I would avoid consuming 24 GPIOs directly and use a dedicated LED-driver/shift-register architecture so the clock remains clean, expandable and electrically reliable. I have 11+ years of embedded/electronics experience across 500+ assignments involving Arduino/MCU systems, RTCs, LED control, displays, switches, PCB hardware and prototype development. My approach: RTC Architecture → LED Driver → Mode Selection → Time Logic → Wiring → Firmware → Prototype Test → Documentation I would focus on DS3231 time accuracy, reliable hour transitions, power-up behaviour, clean switching between all three display modes, LED current consistency and ensuring the design remains easy to reproduce without complicated wiring. I can deliver the fully commented Arduino sketch, complete schematic/wiring diagram, BOM with exact part numbers, recommended LED-driving hardware, setup/upload instructions and support during prototype bring-up. Two important questions: 1. Do you want exactly 24 individual LEDs arranged as a circular clock face? 2. Should the RTC retain time automatically through power loss using its backup battery? Profile: https://www.freelancer.in/u/ElectronicsMust If you message me, I’ll tell you which LED-driving architecture I would use for the first prototype and why it will be cleaner than driving all 24 LEDs directly from the Arduino. Kind Regards, Avi Gupta Quality is never an accident
