I am looking forward to develop a set of storybooks (ebooks) on the iphone/ipad/internet.
The story book will be able to narrate a story in automatic/or manual mode. In automatic mode, the story will be read to the user slowly as each word gets highlighted. In manual mode, the user has the option to click on a word an only that word gets read to them. The user has the ability to turn the pages of each story (previous/forward) regardless of the mode.
The book will also have the following features:
1. Simple cartoon graphics
2. Animation on touch: I want to add simple animations on each page. For e.g. - the flower will bloom Or a bird will fly away when it is touched/
3. Words on the screen can be touched to trigger a corresponding sound file.
The project will have a good number of stories to be published, but for now I want to start with two (2) stories to see the quality and the timeframe of the work.
The objective of the storybook/ebook is to produce something with a high quality similar to books on ([login to view URL]) or (
[login to view URL])
## Deliverables
The app needs to have a (store) feature where the user has the ability to download and purchase more stories as they get published.
The app needs to have the widest reach and within budget. So, I would like to get your proposal on which technology to go with to achieve this goal. Should it be iBooks format, Kindle format, a web app, or a custom native app.
Each story will have 10-20 pages. Some of the pages are repeated. Each page has one sentence having 2-4 words
We will retain full rights to the finished product.
Skills:
? Looking for someone to be the Cartoonist, Graphic Designer, Graphic Artist, Illustrator to draw the graphics and the simple animation. Need to see your portfolio.
? Looking for someone to record the audio (voiceover) and produce the audio files for each story. An audio file might need to be generated per word.
? Looking for someone to sync and associate the audio with the text.? Looking for someone to coordinate all this and put all the pieces together.
? Communicate design strategy and rationale to stakeholders
? Translate requirements into highly engaging and compelling design concepts.
Description of the 1st story (17 slides exactly)
It is a story of a baby elephant and a mother elephant. The baby elephant is imitating the mother elephant;
Drinks milk,
Drinks water from hose like his mother
Eats grass like his mother
Eats carrots like his mother
Sleeps on the ground like his mother
Sleeps in the park like his mother
Goes to the river like his mother
Plays with the water in the river like his mother
Plays with the ball with his mother in the river
Comes out of the river after his mother
Then sleeps in the park like his mother.
(The animation in this story is in the background, unlike the first story; eg. Leaves of trees are moving, water in the river is moving, cloud is moving, ball is moving) only one simple animation per page.
Description of the 2nd story
It is a story of a young girl (3-5 years old) is playing with a sparrow. The sparrow is on a tree and the girl asks the sparrow to come down and play with her. The sparrow is trying to tease the girl by always responding (I am near to you but you do not see me). Finally the girl finds the sparrow above her head. Of course, you need to create the two main characters (young girl and the sparrow) and get my approval before you continue drawing the full story.
Although the story is 28 slides/scenes, 8 of these slides/scenes and sentences are
repeated. In other words, you will need to design twenty slides only.
As I mentioned above, there will be one simple animation per slide/scene. The animation needs to be with the main character(s) of the story. Generally speaking, in this particular story, there will be the bird/sparrow is shaking its head as if talking, shaking its tail as a sign of saying no.
In other scenes, the young girl would be waving her hand to the bird to come down, while the flowers around her are moving slightly.
I will send details of each slide/scene once I accept the proposal.

A few golden rules for creating an attractive book-app, which would have a better chance to stand out in the crowd:
**1. The intent is to create an interactive book app (ebook) not a game**
2. **Target audience**: young toddlers and early readers. The user experience and the required features need to in the context of the target audience.
3. Stories need to be short. The intent that the reader would have an experience of 10 to 15 minutes for each story. Need to make sure we allow readers to return to where they left off.
4. **Interactions which complement the storyline** . Simple animation based an a screen touch is on every page.
5. Create a **streamlined user experience** which fits the target audience:
? Avoid lengthy splash-screens which would make an impatient youngster itch to press the home button.
? Make sure there are no text-based prompts in places which may be accessed by your young readers.
? Avoid an excess number of buttons (do you really need that "info" button on every page?).
? Allow for rapid-fire tapping without compromising the overall reading experience.
? Avoid an excess use of buttons for younger children's books.
