Code/script for inserting cells into data range

Job Description:
I have an excel spreadsheet with weekly measurements of gas. I need to be able to insert blank cells into the sheet (in between weekly sampling) to represent daily measurements. The problem is that the sampling dates are not at regular intervals. i.e. its not just a case of adding in 6 blank cells between weekly measurement dates. I can use SPSS if it is easier to write a syntax for SPSS to complete this function?
