Excel spreadsheet has two workbooks: One for data entry, one for controlling entered data.
Entry to a range of cells (A1:A10) on data entry sheet is LOV controlled by a table on the control sheet. The table controlling the LOV is exhaustive and the user cannot enter values outside the range.
A second range of cells (B1:B10) on data entry sheet are controlled by an LOV, which is dependant on the value selected in the first LOV. Again, the LOV is exhaustive and the user cannot enter values outside the range.
All of the above is designed and working as intended - it is for background only.
Spec of what is required:
Excel VBA script that automatically clears the contents of either cell when the value in its neighbouring cell changes.
Typical use case:
User picks on A1 LOV and selects "Fruit" as the entered value. When B1 cell is selected the LOV displays "Banana: Apple: Pear" as valid choices. User selects "Pear".
User then picks A1 LOV again and changes value to "Vegetable" - the value in B1 is automatically cleared without user input. When B1 cell is selected the LOV displays "Potato: Carrot: Turnip" as valid choices. User selects "Potato".
User then picks B1 cell again and clears the entry to NULL. At this point cell A1 contents is automatically cleared without user input.
The cells to be automatically cleared will be specified as a range of rows. It must be possible to tweak the code to match the final design of the spreadsheet, so the range of cells to be cleared must be configurable. Editing the VBA code directly to change the range will be sufficient.
Exact version of MS Excel is TBC.
