Hi,
we are optimizing our processes internally and therefore would like to find a skilled graphic designer and/or programmer to help us solve our problem.
Our problem:
We have 6 InDesign files(in 6 different languages) and import tables from excel. Upon import (updates), the styling of the tables disappears, and we need to style the tables manually again. We also have 6 excel files, one for each language.
Our desire:
- Only to have one excel file to maintain all languages, we use it to maintain all technical data and price regulations. It is important that the function of the document remains intact and also that we are able to make updates in the document.
- Find out a way to keep the styling of the tables in InDesign so that we save a lot of time when we make updates. Perhaps we can use XML to programme the layout of the InDesign documents and control a language dictionary in excel.
We only have a basic understanding of InDesign and therefore we need your expertise for the entire project. We can send you the existing files, but we need you to make a fully functioning solution. We have researched the possibility of applying dtd to the indesign files, but this is unchartered territory for us. You are free to polish the design of the tables (make it easier to read), but please do not change too much of the general layout.
