I need to build an excel sheet/workbook that allows me to easily manage my inventory and retrieve item status. For example, let's say I specialize in repairing motorcycles. At any given time I may have 20 to 30 motorcycles in my shop. Each motorcycle may at a different stage int the repair process, everything from new work order to parts waiting, mechanical repairs in process, and ready for delivery.
I'm thinking about building a workbook with multiple sheets, a user input sheet, where I can input a VIN or stock number and receive an output of the STATUS of the motorcycle. A second and third sheet can be used as a database which is updated daily by the user with status changes and new inventory.
As long as the database sheets are maintained properly, sheet #1 should output current status information for the user everytime a VIN or stock number is entered.
