I am an 83 year young retired aeronautical engineer. Used to program in Excel VBA, but have forgotten it all. I have an Excel (2016) worksheet as follows:
A. Variable number of rows
B. First column is company name (text)
C. Second column is Ticker Symbol (Canadian or US markets)
D. Third column is yield on today's price ( number in "[login to view URL]%" format) I imported this from
another Excel file
E. Fourth column is current price (number in "$[login to view URL]" format. Also imported
I want a VBA control button that will generate an XY scatter plot with the yield on the vertical axis and the current price on the horizontal axis.
Then I want something like a combobox that will let me select a ticker symbol from column 2 and highlight the associated point on the scatter chart. There should be no data labels on the scatter chart because with 100 plus points it will get very cluttered. A data label from column 2 only on the selected (combobox selection) would be nice.
As a further development, the ability to select two or more tickers to compare would be a valuable option.
I would like access to the final VBA code, in case I want to make minor changes, if I can recover my memory of VBA by examining your code.
In addition to yield versus price, there are other important parameters that we will include in a later expansion. Yield versus time to Call Date; Rest value Versus price. etc.
Please respond, so I can choose my stocks wisely.
