They asked for a detailed description so here it is: (You can also download this page with the pictures inserted in the attachment section)
As with most projects posted to GAF I want this completed as quickly as possible. I have a meeting on the 13th that I would like to be able to present a good working prototype. There is a lot of material to incorporate so teams might be a plus on this project. I need to have whoever takes this project on to have a LARGE amount of time to dedicate to it this week. I'm posting this as a small project because there is no way I can afford even the middle of a medium sized budget range.
I have been looking for a program that will allow me to easily create a multimedia “scrapbook” Another way to think of it is as a multimedia portfolio you can look through by year. Each year would have a collection of pages which would highlight what happened that year, like “Halloween,” “Winter” or “Becca’s 5th Birthday.”
Becca’s Fifth Birthday page would have an embedded slideshow of the jpeg pictures from the party that she can click on and make larger to view. A static jpeg of the party invitation. An embedded video window where she can play short clips of the party that I have already had compressed for viewing on the web. A text area where someone could type some text about their memory of the party. (Look at the attachment to see the Xtivity Professional Workflow window to kinda of get an idea of a sample page layout)
After much review of products and websites, what I’ve found I’m really looking for is a Flash website (or an html website with the appropriate flash embedded modules.) However, I can’t design flash. I am used to embedding little flash slide shows or banners in regular websites. Whatever is used I will have to be able to modify and add to. So a web site designed totally in flash won’t work unless it is designed and modified with a flash generator tool like the one I discuss below. Frankly if the cool effects I like can be included in a HTML website with flash modules that load fast that would be ideal as I could modify it myself in dreamweaver.
I expect to have about 2000 pictures and scanned items to include that have already been separated by year and date and are in the process of being cropped and renamed to meaningful names. The majority of the material I have is jpeg photographs and tiff scans (like birthday cards, letters or dance recital programs).
I am in the process of converting the tiff scans into high quality jpegs. I will also have some audio (about 22 clips) and some video (about 20 clips) I would like the person to be able to play directly from the page in an embedded viewer or player.
I’ve reviewed a lot of programs that are close to what I want. It seems though, that each of them has a limitation that won’t work… like it requires it’s own viewer to be downloaded. An example is:

This is a neat example. It looks like a book you can inset pictures with captions. You can insert a video window that will play the video when clicked The book is a little plain but you’ll get the idea– Problem – requires you to use it’s viewer to view, and that won’t work.
Though Coolect is nice it is rather BLAH – I got really excited about the examples of photographer’s portfolio’s at this site: (below) because they seemed really interactive and it used a flash generator that I could learn in the future and the layout (see picture below) is EXACTLY what I have been trying to find in a pre-made product.

It is a flash generator program. It has a fully functional 30 day trial that can be downloaded and about 10 tutorials and “tours” of how to use the product. Here is the write up that caught my interest:
“Xtivity uses a streamlined workflow to enable you to rapidly create interactive SWF projects. It is a web design program that lets you add motion, streaming video, audio, animation and interactive graphics to a web site. Instead of a static web site, use Xtivity to add life to your domain. Within an hour you can build an entire web page with moving photos complete with audio. Import video in a single step. There is so much you can do with this software! Xtivity features a streamlined professional workflow to let you rapidly create and update your work. Its all done visually so there is no coding involved. Using a simple layout style approach, you can draw content boxes and then populate the content box with your information.”
That is what I need! FAST! With a Layout Style so things can be easily changed. It is a program I could learn to use so I could modify the site created without much trouble.(Though I can populate an html page as well with modules if someone else creates them)
The layout of the pages would need to be designed but probably we could come up with several "templates" with the same layout, buttons, color scheme- essentially the framework and then we could just change the titles and the picures. mini flash clide shos would need to be generated to insert into the pages if we don't use a program that does it for us. If other people are able to populate a template page at the same time you are populating other template pages we could get the project done more quickly so a "team" might be good for this project. I will be supplying you with folders of material that will make a "page" like Becca's 5th birthday.
Here are some of the examples that I though would translate well into what I want:
1. This is an example of the Professional Workflow layout which matches what I am seeing in my head for the pages of the project. (See the attachment - The little write up below goes under it. )
Xtivity uses a streamlined workflow to enable you to rapidly create interactive SWF projects. Using a simple layout style approach, you can draw content boxes and then populate the content box with your information. Adding interactive actions and functionality to your project is as easy as selecting a box and then adding actions to it using the actions panel. Click to select an action, define what triggers (makes the action start) and you're done. It is literally that fast and easy to do.
ANYWAY – I am looking to start putting up the pages asap. I can say that contrary to the "flashiness" of the program above, the color scheme will be neutrals. I'm looking for classic, classy, crisp. I think that that is why I like the photograhper's portfolios on the site. they look modern and clean. I am attaching a terrible drawn example of a potential page look.
