I would like to hire someone use Google Earth to show the way that a tree line has evolved over time on two abutting properties (using the historical maps feature). There are two features that I'm aware of to do this: 1) the ruler feature, where you can draw a line of certain distance to show how the tree line has moved. 2) the "overlay" feature where you can overlay two pictures of the same thing that were taken at different times. If there are other ways to accomplish this, I'm open to new ideas. The freelancer must be able to take "screenshots" of this work and put it into a powerpoint slide.

i am an expert in remote sensing and GIS. i can do the job by several ways such as google earth images. In addition to the overlay method, an oriented object classification method can be applied. it depends on the landscape and the historical images database. If the trees are sparse i can do an automatic feature extraction using the oriented object classification, which can retreive the number of trees at each date.
