Design a 16 - 22 page booklet catalog. The dimensions are 5.5” x 8.5”. All text content is provided. The catalog is a program reference for members of a spiritual center. The programs are listed by date and have a brief description. See attache PDF for last year's catalog (improvement needed are discussed below.) This year's catalog will be the same size and similar lay out to last year's attached PDF catalog.
This design should appeal to both men and women. The aesthetic should be modern, but timeless. The layout needs to be intuitive and easy to navigate.
The cover is 4 color, interior pages are black and white. We are wrapping up the new logo design on July 9 and it will need to be used on the cover. The cover should be vibrant and may use a photograph or illustration. One idea for the cover is a diverse group of people, unposed, in a natural setting, happy and interacting with one another. (If stock photos are necessary use watermarked versions for proofs and we will purchase them for you upon approval.)
Use four to five interior photographs. They should illustrate themes like illumination, nature, journeying, water, or people communicating with each other. Try to incorporate people's faces. Use themes found within the text to inform the photos. (If stock photos are necessary use watermarked versions for proofs and we will purchase them for you upon approval.)
The client is a progressive, faith-based spiritual center that offers a wide a variety of programs to help people explore spirituality. They refer to themselves as “genuine people listening to god.“ They are celebrating their tenth anniversary and are launching initiatives to update their image and rebrand to appeal to a larger audience. They hope to engage more men and younger members.
The core audience is existing members of the center which are mostly middle aged and elderly women though it is important to note that the organization is actively reshaping their image to appeal to more men and younger audiences. These demographics need to be kept in mind while establishing aesthetic.
Attached is an example of last year's catalog. Expected improvements on the old catalog include a less feminine, more vibrant cover. The layout needs to more intuitive. This year's catalog will be organized chronologically, by season.
Target date for completion is July 20, first draft due by July 15.
