Each of the three book covers will be a separate full-spread design including a spine. Specifications and a Photoshop layout template will be provided.
Resolution must be at least 300dpi. All images must be at least 300 pixels/inch (600 preferred). All images must be sized and/or cropped externally so that they appear in the document at 100%. Convert to 8-bit grayscale for B&W.
Colour space must be CMYK.
The back cover of each book will feature our logo (we will furnish this as a PSD file) as well as a space for a bar-code. The bar-code area should be a white box 1.75”W x 1.00”H (45mm x 25mm) towards the lower right corner.
We will provide: exact title and sub-title text, sales text or bullet points required by your design, and sales text for the back cover. We will write any additional text that you need to support your design, and answer any questions you may have to aid your design process.
We envision the design process as follows: you provide a rough draft of the layout to demonstrate your design concept -- we comment. You provide at least one progress draft -- we comment. You provide a final draft -- we comment. You provide the final design.
You will provide the finished designs as three separate Photoshop PSD files with all layers. Provide font files.
Book #1: Condominium Management Manual for Mexican Condos [trim size: 6.00” x 9.00” (152mm x 229mm)]
Book #2: Translation of Mexican condo law [trim size: 8.25” x 11.00” (210mm x 280mm)]
Book #3: Overview of Mexican law [trim size: 6.00” x 9.00” (152mm x 229mm)]
Target audience is retirees from Canada and US (typically 56 to 70 years of age).
Although topics are somewhat dry, the book covers should be visually exciting and appealing. Since they are related topics, and are a single author and publisher, it would be nice if there were some common graphical or design elements linking the three books.
Provide samples of your previous designs with your bid.
