I am looking to work with an illustrator, for an exciting series of books designed for trilingual children aged 3-8 years old. The stories are based on real families, so I want to be able to adapt the characteristics of an actual real-life family and convert them into a cartoon/drawing based on their unique DNA. I am looking for someone who is able to make a book using layers, preferably photoshop, but I am open to ideas and suggestions. I would like the characters to be specific to each family, they will be differentiated (based on skin tone / hair type / glasses/ facial hair clothes etc ) and can be placed over the background image of a double spread in the book (which is one of the only things that will remain constant). Getting the characters right is crucial. At this stage, I am looking for sample characters, so I can get a feel and understanding from the illustrator on the type of work they can produce. I have attached a picture of my children, but if you have a photo that you want to draw, I would be happy to consider that. Once I have shortlisted 3-5 illustrators I will go into more detail about the project.
