Job Description:
Magna International provides a health and wellness program for its Canadian Employee group. A variety of health education and health related activities are carried out under this program. The scope of this program can be reviewed at the program website located at www.magnawellness.ca.
The Magna Wellness Team is looking to develop a web-based software/database application to assist in the management of specific group based activities within the Wellness Program. Specifically we are looking to develop a “challenge” platform where individual and teams of individuals can track progress and interact, in various types of health challenges (e.g. number of steps taken, healthy meals eaten etc.).
Enclosed with this memo are two documents that should provide the reader with sufficient detail about the administrative and user requirements to be built into the application.
1. The first document contains the following:
a. Links to several websites that have similar functionality to what is to be created. These demos should be reviewed only for the purpose of understanding the general function of challenge platforms and not for the purposes of replicating function in the platform to be built. In fact no one platform is suitable for our purposes and therefore we are embarking on the development of a customized solution.
Demo platform sites can be used to gain an understanding of existing platforms. These sources can provide a visual guide to the specifications identified while also helping to explain some technological processes that will be required when creating a challenge platform.
b. Identification of administrative priorities including detailed information about the platform breakdown (admin), challenge administration, messaging components, tracking/reporting/managing of users, and additional components that would make up the challenge platform. Each section outlines features, descriptions and the minimum requirements needed for the platform while also including other considerations that are optional and not immediately necessary.
c. Identification of user priorities that include detailed information about the platform breakdown (user), messaging components, tracking by users, and additional components that would make up the challenge platform. Each section outlines features, descriptions and minimum requirements needed when creating the platform while also including other considerations that are optional and not necessary.
2. The second document contains drawings of various screens, and potentially, how they could be laid out graphically. These are based on the specifications provided. These are provided as reference only and do not need to be closely followed in terms of the design and layout. They do assist in visualizing the requirements and associated specifications.
a. Admin Sketch: designed to provide readers with a visual guide/explanation when reading the admin priorities.
b. User Sketch: designed to provide the reader with a visual guide/explanation when reading the user priorities.
The documents are not substantive and likely additional detail will need to be gathered at the pre-programming stage, however together these documents and demos should provide sufficient detail to permit a clear understanding of the scope of the project, high level functionality, and should be sufficient to provide a cost quotation and timeline for the project.
This is a project to develop a wellness tracking system for use by employees. It will be proprietary and is not intended for commercialization.
