I need a dedicated iOS application that lets our shop record and monitor hydraulic-cylinder repairs strictly by serial number. The core workflow is simple: our technicians must be able to scan or type several serial- and model-number pairs in one go, press submit, and instantly see whether each item already lives in the database. Data rules and behaviour • Serial numbers must stay unique; duplicates are rejected automatically. • If a submitted serial already exists, the current warranty date is overwritten with today’s date while the previous date is appended to that cylinder’s Past Repair Dates list. All historical dates have to remain visible, so we can later report how many times a unit was serviced in any given year. • Each record stores Serial Number, Cylinder Model, Warranty Date (current), and an ever-growing Past Repair Dates array. User access Authentication is required, with three distinct roles: Admin, technician, and customer. Admins manage user accounts and can export or purge data; technicians perform the bulk of data entry and edits; customers log in read-only to view the history of their own cylinders. Platform & tech expectations The app is iOS-only. I’m open to Swift, SwiftUI, or React Native as long as offline functionality and smooth barcode/QR scanning are possible. A lightweight on-device store (Core Data, SQLite, or Realm) that syncs to a cloud back-end (Firebase, AWS, or similar) will likely make the most sense; feel free to propose alternatives. Deliverables 1. Xcode project with well-commented source. 2. Simple, intuitive UI for batch entry and history lookup. 3. Role-based login flow. 4. Schema or migration script for the cylinder database. 5. Brief README covering build steps and how to add future roles or fields. I’ll supply sample CSVs, the current paper form, and any graphic assets once we start. Looking forward to your plan and timeline!

Hi! This is something we can handle without hesitation — the scope is well laid out and the deliverables are clear enough to work from. Before I put a firm proposal together, the one thing I need to understand is how critical offline really is in practice. If technicians work in a shop with reliable Wi-Fi, a local queue that holds submissions during brief outages is enough. If the app needs to run fully disconnected for extended periods, the sync logic becomes meaningfully more complex — especially around duplicate detection when two technicians submit the same serial before either device reconnects. That single answer shifts the architecture considerably. On how we'd build it: React Native over native Swift — not as a shortcut, but because backend sync, role management, and barcode scanning all sit comfortably in that stack, and the codebase stays easier to extend later, Android included if that ever comes up. The backend would be a REST API backed by PostgreSQL, which enforces serial uniqueness and the append-only repair history at the database level rather than leaving it to app logic. The three-role auth flow with JWT is straightforward to wire in. Batch entry with per-item duplicate feedback, warranty date overwrite, and the yearly service report are all well-defined scope from our side. Schema script and README are part of the delivery. Looking forward to working through the remaining details before we close the scope. Gustavo & the DoTheCode team

Hello!, This is James from Hollywood... I read your post carefully, and the real need here is not just an iOS app, but a reliable repair-tracking tool your shop can use daily without slowing anyone down. For hydraulic cylinder repairs, the app should reduce missed details, keep jobs organized, and make status updates fast and simple. My plan would be: 1. Map your repair workflow and the exact fields you need 2. Build the core iPhone/iPad app with job intake, status tracking, notes, photos, timestamps, and search 3. Add a clear dashboard for active, pending, and completed repairs 4. Test it with real shop usage, then refine for speed and usability I focus on practical builds that staff can adopt quickly, and that can later grow into barcode scan, customer history, parts usage, or cloud sync if needed. A few relevant examples of work: - a field service tracking app for an equipment repair team - an internal inspection app for a manufacturing shop - a job progress dashboard for a logistics company - a service intake app for workshop workflows Quick questions: 1. What exact repair details must be tracked for each cylinder? 2. Do you need offline mode in the shop, then sync later? 3. Should this be iPhone only, or iPad too for bench use? If you want, I can turn this into a clean first version without overbuilding it.

The important part is making serial-number updates atomic so repeat repairs never overwrite history or create duplicate cylinder records when technicians sync concurrently. I recommend native SwiftUI with AVFoundation scanning, local SQLite for offline operation, and a PostgreSQL/Supabase backend with a unique constraint on normalized serial numbers. Rather than storing repair history as one growing array, I would keep each service event as a related record. The app can still show the exact Past Repair Dates list you want, while yearly reporting, exports and future fields remain reliable. My background includes iOS/mobile development, backend APIs, databases, authentication and offline/realtime application workflows. The build will include batch scan/type entry, Admin/Technician/Customer roles, customer-specific read-only history, offline sync, exports and complete Xcode/source documentation. I can start immediately after award.

Hi, The hydraulic cylinder tracking system requires precise data integrity and offline-first functionality to support technicians in the field, which aligns with my experience designing reliable data pipelines that maintain historical states. The main technical risk is ensuring consistent synchronization and conflict resolution between the on-device store and cloud backend, especially with concurrent updates from multiple roles. I typically design systems by separating data ingestion, synchronization, and user access control layers to isolate concerns and improve maintainability. For this app, I’d validate offline sync strategies early to prevent data loss or duplication. Reliability can be enhanced through idempotent updates, conflict detection, and audit logging, ensuring accurate warranty date histories and role-based data access. I can start by outlining the data schema and sync architecture to fit your batch entry and history lookup flows. Thanks, Clifton

Hi there, I can build this iOS app around one clear workflow: scan or enter multiple cylinder serial/model pairs, validate them against the database, and preserve every repair date without losing history. I’d use SwiftUI with a lightweight local store such as Core Data/SQLite for reliable offline entry, then sync records with a cloud backend when connectivity is available. The data model will enforce unique serial numbers and, on an existing serial, move the current warranty date into Past Repair Dates before setting today as the new warranty date. I’ll implement barcode/QR scanning, batch entry, history lookup, and role-based access for admin, technician and customer. Admin tools will cover account management, export and purge, while customers remain read-only. The final Xcode project will include the schema/migration details, comments and a clear README for future fields or roles. M1: UI, database & authentication — $600 / 3 days M2: Scanning, batch entry, sync & repair history — $700 / 4 days M3: Roles, admin tools, testing & Xcode handover — $500 / 3 days Looking forward to work with you. I understand you need a robust iOS application for tracking hydraulic cylinder repairs, similar to how asset tracking systems leverage unique identifiers for real-time status updates. My approach will ensure efficient data management and a seamless user experience for your technicians. I propose building this app using Swift and SwiftUI for a native, performant iOS experience. For data persistence, I'll implement Core Data, allowing for efficient local storage and synchronization. The core functionality will involve a scanner integration (leveraging AVFoundation for barcode scanning) or manual input for serial and model numbers. A backend API will handle database checks for existing serials, update warranty dates, and log past repairs. Unit and integration tests will be written to ensure data integrity and application stability. To ensure this meets your exact needs, could you clarify how frequently the database will be updated with new cylinder entries? Also, what is the expected volume of submissions per technician daily? I'm confident I can deliver a precise solution; let's schedule a brief call to discuss the specifics.

Hello, "Offline-First SwiftUI + Local Sync" - you need reliable batch entry and complete repair history. I’d keep serial uniqueness enforced locally, queue offline changes, then sync safely to Firebase with role-based access. My Reolink automation project also used device-side data handling and API automation: https://www.freelancer.com/projects/automation/Automate-Reolink-Video-Backup-Script/reviews Should Firebase be the preferred cloud backend? Looking forward to working with you. Artur Giżycki

I've built inventory and asset-tracking systems on iOS with barcode scanning and role-based access before, so this is straightforward for me. I'll go SwiftUI + Core Data for local sync with Firebase Auth and Firestore—handles offline batch entry seamlessly and gives you real-time cloud sync without complexity. The serial-number deduplication logic and warranty-date overwrite with historical array append is a standard upsert pattern; I'll implement that in the Core Data model layer with conflict resolution on sync. Barcode scanning via AVFoundation, role-gated views (Admin/Technician/Customer), and export functionality (CSV generation) all map cleanly to native iOS APIs. I'll deliver the Xcode project fully commented, schema migrations included, and a README that documents the role-addition pattern for future scaling. I can start immediately and have a working prototype with full offline capability and sync validation within the first phase. Thanks, Andrii

First thing I'd do is map the data model - the warranty-date overwrite plus appending the old date to Past Repair Dates is the tricky bit, and I'd nail that logic before touching UI. Batch entry with barcode/QR scanning, uniqueness checks that reject dupes on submit, and instant "already in DB" feedback per row. I'd build in SwiftUI with Core Data on-device (works offline) syncing to Firebase, plus the three roles - Admin manage/export/purge, technicians edit, customers read-only on their own cylinders. Once you send the sample CSVs and paper form I can match the schema exactly. What scanner hardware do your techs use - phone camera, or dedicated sled scanners? - Prateek

Hello! I understand you need an iOS app for strict serial-number-based hydraulic-cylinder tracking, including batch scan/type entry, duplicate prevention, warranty-date rollover, and full repair history visibility. I have spent the last several years solving exactly this type of problem in React Native, Swift, and iOS Development, building offline-first apps with role-based login, barcode/QR scanning, Core Data or SQLite persistence, and cloud sync for reliable field workflows. I can structure the database and migration flow so every cylinder keeps its current record plus an ever-growing Past Repair Dates history, while admins, technicians, and customers each see only what they should. I’m ready to get started, and I’m confident we can make this project a success and deliver it to a high standard. I’m committed to ensuring everything is completed professionally, efficiently, and exactly according to your requirements. Best regards!

Consider this ✔️I understand the importance of ensuring unique serial numbers for each hydraulic cylinder repair. What usually matters most here is maintaining a reliable history of repairs, like tracking warranty updates and past service dates. My approach would involve using Swift with Core Data for local storage to manage the cylinder records. I would implement a scanning feature for quick entry, set up robust user authentication for your three roles, and create a simple UI for batch entry and history lookup. I have worked on similar iOS applications where maintaining unique records and providing access control were crucial for data integrity. Based on what you mentioned, my core focus would be: • Ensuring unique serial numbers • Creating a user-friendly interface • Implementing role-based access control If you want I could take a look at your current paper form and give you some direction? Best, Kurt.

Build a dedicated iOS-only “Hydraulic Cylinder Tracker” that enforces serial uniqueness, supports batch scans, and maintains full service history. Workflow: technicians scan/type multiple Serial + Cylinder Model pairs, submit once, and see immediate existence results. Data rules: if a serial is already present, the Warranty Date is overwritten to today, and the prior date is appended to an ever-growing Past Repair Dates list (never deleted) to enable yearly service reporting. Architecture: iOS authentication with role-based access (Admin, technician, customer). Offline-first on-device storage (Core Data/SQLite/Realm) with background sync to a secure cloud backend (Firebase/AWS), ensuring smooth barcode/QR scanning and fast lookup. Deliverables: an Xcode project with well-commented Swift/SwiftUI code, intuitive batch-entry + history screens, RBAC login flow, migration/schema scripts for cylinder records, and a concise README with build steps plus guidance for adding future roles/fields.

Hi, there. "OFFLINE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER TRACKER" - you need technicians to batch-scan cylinders, prevent duplicate serials, preserve every repair date, and sync reliably between offline shop use and the cloud. I’d use SwiftUI + Core Data with a sync layer, keeping serial validation and repair-history rules in one data service so batch submissions cannot create duplicate records or lose previous warranty dates. I’d also make scanning and manual entry share the same workflow, with role-based access enforced both locally and in the backend. The history model would keep each repair event intact, making yearly service counts straightforward while allowing admins to export or purge records. Can you share the sample CSV and paper form, and do customers need access to all cylinders linked to their account or only specific serial numbers? Looking forward to working with you.
