I am kickstarting an open source project. The project is a web based email client written in Java and utilising the Vaadin middleware. It will be a fork of the open source Email Portlet written originally for Liferay. You can see the portlet in action on the URL below.

The client needs to run independently of Liferay and support both IMAP and SMTP. The source code needs to be written in English and follow the existing source code style. You will likely also need to add simple login and user account configuration capability, since these services are provided by Liferay in the current system. The existing style, look and feel and functionality is to be preserved as much as possible.
It will be considered complete, when the project can be fetched from source control, built using open source tools into a jar file, deployed on the latest stable Apache Tomcat Servlet engine and a single user can be configured to login, receive email via imap from a configured server, and send email via SMTP using a configured server.
