I am looking for someone to add socks and http proxy capabilities to a software called QLink available at [url removed, login to view] The software is basically an Add-In to Excel that downloads online stock data from the stock market data provider eSignal and gives the output to Excel.
Startup Sequence is as follows:
1. Start eSignal,
2. eSignal Data Manager starts automatically.
3. Enter socks 5 proxy settings in the Data Manager;
4. Start Qlink
5. Start Microsoft Excel
6. Enter the stock symbol in the add-in of Excel which in turn gives the output to Excel.
Behind proxy, Qlink works fine for pulling realtime data since the same is downloaded by the eSignal’s data manager (which supports socks proxy) and forward’s the same to Qlink. Qlink is however unable to pull intraday or daily/ weekly historical data since it tries to pull the same data directly from the eSignal servers but does not support socks proxy.
When looking at code of Qlink using a software called resource hacker, it seems that the software was intended to be used with proxy, since resource Dialog 102-0 has all the relevant windows for data entry, but maybe left the idea unfinished (screenshot attached). The software currently uses Dialog 101-0 for connecting.

It is sought that Qlink should support socks proxy (for port 1080) and is intended to be used with a proxy software called your-freedom, available for download at [url removed, login to view] Your Freedom site is http://www.your-freedom.net. Developers can either add new code to activate socks capabilities to the software or activate the currently hidden/disabled feature for socks proxy in the Qlink software.
