She messaged Mr Kopacz privately, through a function on the website, stating “I am looking to sell my washing machine, and I would like £90 for it, do you want it?” Mr Kopacz messaged back asking whether she would consider selling it for £80. She replied “£80 is fine, come to collect it tomorrow at 9am”. She had also placed an advert for the washing machine on the website and Mr Macha messaged her to say he would pay £90 and would come to collect it immediately. Wishing to accept the higher offer, Miss Billington agreed and sold it to Mr Macha, who promptly collected it. At 8am the next day, Mr Kopacz messaged Miss Billington to check if he could still collect the washing machine at 9am. He was annoyed when she replied that she had sold it to someone else.
Miss Billington has a half-sister named Emma, who is a nail technician. Emma knew that Miss Billington was sorting through and selling her clothes and jewellery, so she asked her for her expensive necklace. In exchange for the necklace, Emma said she would give Miss Billington a free manicure within the next month. Miss Billington gave Emma the necklace, but Emma then refused to give her a manicure unless she paid in advance
