Easement Trial Expert Witness

I am preparing for a Superior Court trial in Walnut Creek (Contra Costa County, CA) and need an expert who can speak authoritatively on easements and rights-of-way. The central issue is a defective title that has created uncertainty over an existing access easement, and the court will rely heavily on expert testimony to clarify industry standards and local recording practices. Your role will be to: • Study all recorded deeds, title reports, and survey materials already gathered by counsel. • Form an independent, defensible opinion on whether the easement is valid and properly conveyed under California law. • Draft a concise expert report for exchange under the applicable discovery rules. • Appear in person to give testimony—first at deposition (if scheduled) and then at trial—explaining your reasoning in plain language for the judge and jury. I will provide the full case file, including historical chain-of-title documents, assessor maps, and declarations from adjoining owners. Turnaround on your initial written opinion is three weeks from engagement so we can meet disclosure deadlines. Required background: • Proven courtroom experience testifying on easement or right-of-way matters in California. • Familiarity with Contra Costa County Recorder procedures and local subdivision maps. • Professional licensing as a surveyor, title officer, or real estate attorney is preferred but not mandatory if you can demonstrate substantial practical expertise.
