I need to be able to run a shell script (sh) to connect to a servers remote card and enable or disable the SNMP settings and also have an option to change or create the SNMP string value (default normally is public)
This is how it works.
MAIN SNMP SCRIPT
Requires User Input
I open and edit the main script.....
A) I enter in either a single IP address or an IP Address Range
NOTE: must have both these options to gather information on the type of remote card
B) I enter in the Logon/Password Information (add multiple sets of logon/password information if more than one set of credentials for the range of remote cards I am updating)
NOTE: must be able to accommodate more than 1 set of credentials in case the cards have different logon and password values
C) I enter in the public string information I want activated or created (default is public)
I run the main script (now with the inputted IP address range, logon credentials and string value mentioned above)
D) I now run the script to first discover the type of remote card installed (either Dell DRAC, IBM RSA or HP iLO)
IF no remote card it goes to the next IP in the range or exit. The output for the discovery goes to an [url removed, login to view] text file and includes Server Name, IP Address and Type of Remote Card
E) Once discovery is completed on the IP range or single IP address, the script then goes through the [url removed, login to view] file and then runs the individual SNMP update scripts located in the same directory as the main script.
In other words
If its Dell DRAC it runs the [url removed, login to view] script
If its HP iLO it runs the [url removed, login to view] script
If its IBM RSA it runs the [url removed, login to view] script
You will need to create the main discovery script and then the individual SNMP update scripts as well. The SNMP update scripts need to basically have the following logic
IF SNMP not enabled THEN first enable it,
IF no SNMP EXISTS for public access CREATE a Public SNMP string and THEN enable it.
If you know an easier way to do this then please make suggestions. Also you will need to see what the SNMP code is for each type of remote card. It may be different or it may be standard.
I need this ASAP - like tomorrow, if you can do this and it works 100% I will keep you for some other major scripting projects coming along.
Please no Time Wasters - You need to understand remote access card technology and what it takes to update it through the SH or SSH.
