I'm looking for a small (under 200 megs, but still the smaller the better) Linux distro that can be used for making a LiveCD, which can be used to boot a Windows machine, and then connect to the net, browse contents of the hard drive, etc.
There's a huge list at <[login to view URL]> , but I tried three of them and ran into various problems (e.g. the CD refused to boot giving me an error about "can't find knoppix filesystem" (that happened with DamnSmallLinux), or I got a "root" login prompt and the distro didn't come with any information about the default root password, or the project seems dead with no support provided in the forum, etc.), so I figured it would just be easier to post asking for complete instructions on which distro to use, and how to boot up with it.
I already know how to burn an ISO to a CD and reboot the computer and select the CD drive as the device to boot from. So I'm just looking for instructions that tell me which distro to use, and then what to do when the computer boots up. Also help me out if I run into any unexpected problems.
No need to write any software, just clear instructions :) Thanks!
