I would suggest you to check the below format of the my understanding about this project. 1. Set the program in Cron scheduler. So script will run at specified time and will check your friends birthday and send out an email to you. 2. Using this script, you can Add/Modify/Delete the friends birthdays from the static file ( A file which contains your friends birthday) 3. Hi Dear, I have read your requirement of birthday reminder. In order to make it happen you will need to provide me name of people and their birth date. This information can reside in a database (oracle, mysql) or in a file (like text, csv etc). If you want to send notification to people via email then a gateway address is needed along with server's connectivity to internet. In case you just want to put birthday message once particular person logs in then no need to have internet gateway or internet connectivity.
