Logo for Islamic Community Project in the Washington DC region, USA

Dar-us-Salaam ([login to view URL]) is an Islamic community building project around the Washington DC area in the United States. We need to design an organizational logo that conveys a feeling of inclusion, welcome, community, integrity, and principle. The organization takes its name from the Qur'an, surah 10 ayah 25: "And Allah invites to the Home of Peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path" Dar-us-Salaam has many projects, the biggest being a full-time Islamic school called Al-Huda School. We have many other educational, social service, and media projects. The logo should be appropriate to the United States and should not look overtly "foreign" or "arabic" or "arabesque." We want the logo to incorporate subtle, meaningful elements into the logo which speak to the Quranic ayah 10:25, to "abode of peace", to community, to "welcome" and/or "invitation." This is a major artistic, creative project that we will only award to a logo designer who is thoughtful and has a proven record designing organizational and corporate logos. The logo can be textual, graphical, or a combination. THIS WILL BE A HIGHLY THOUGHTFUL PROCESS WITH A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH AND MULTIPLE CONCEPTS. DO NOT BID IF YOU THINK THIS IS A QUICK JOB.
