I am instrumenting an air-compressor test rig with thermal, pressure, and acoustic sensors that push measurements as real-time data streams. I now need a complete, reproducible pipeline that turns those streams into actionable fault predictions. Here is what I expect you to handle end-to-end: • Data acquisition – capture, time-stamp, and store each thermal, pressure, and acoustic channel continuously so the same code can be pointed at the live rig or at recorded sessions for offline work. • Feature engineering & model training – build a multi-class classifier that separates normal running from four distinct fault categories (bearing, water-pump, radiator, exhaust-valve). You are free to choose the algorithm and Python stack (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, etc.) provided the training script is fully repeatable. • Performance reporting – deliver class-wise and overall accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, plus a 5 × 5 confusion matrix generated from held-out data. • Predictive-maintenance validation – produce a concise technical note (diagram, photo, or CAD screenshot) showing exactly where each sensor would be mounted on the physical rig to detect the corresponding faults. Acceptance criteria 1. A Git-based repository containing all source code, [login to view URL] (or [login to view URL]), and a README with step-by-step instructions. 2. A trained model file and a notebook or script that recreates every metric above on demand. 3. The sensor-placement note clearly linking each of the four fault classes to its monitoring points on the compressor. If anything is unclear about the live streaming format or the fault taxonomy, let me know early so we can lock it down before you start coding.

Hi, I notice that handling real-time data streams from thermal, pressure, and acoustic sensors is crucial for predictive maintenance of the air compressor fault. I'd approach this by setting up a data acquisition system that can capture and store each channel continuously. My focus would be on building a reliable and efficient pipeline. I've seen cases where feature engineering and model training can be tricky, especially when dealing with multi-class classification problems like this one. In my experience, choosing the right algorithm and Python stack, such as scikit-learn or PyTorch, is key to achieving good performance. I'd make sure to deliver class-wise and overall accuracy metrics, as well as a clear technical note on sensor placement, so the client can trust the results.

Hi, I am Muheebwa. I understand you need a reproducible Python pipeline for your air compressor rig that captures thermal, pressure, and acoustic streams continuously, trains a multi class classifier to separate normal running from bearing, water pump, radiator, and exhaust valve faults, reports class wise and overall accuracy, precision, recall, F1 and a 5 by 5 confusion matrix on held out data, and includes a sensor placement note linking each fault class to where the sensor mounts on the rig. My approach would be to define the streaming format and fault taxonomy with you first, build an ingestion layer that writes to a time series store and can also replay recorded sessions, window the signals with session level splits, engineer features per channel, train a multi class model with class balancing, and report class wise accuracy, precision, recall, F1 and the 5 by 5 confusion matrix from held out data, then write the sensor placement note linking each fault to its monitoring point, and deliver the repo with requirements and README. What format will the live streams arrive in, and roughly how many sessions per fault class do you already have? Looking forward to hearing from you.

The four fault classes you list — bearing, water-pump, radiator, exhaust-valve — will overlap heavily in the acoustic band unless you fix a sampling rate per sensor type before feature extraction, otherwise the classifier just learns noise from mismatched windows. I've built classification pipelines wiring sensor data through feature engineering into a trained model with reproducible offline replay, so the live-vs-recorded requirement fits how I'd structure it. Do you already have labeled fault recordings, or does the pipeline need to bootstrap on normal-only data first?

One decision about the data will move your accuracy numbers more than the choice of algorithm: how you split it. Rig data comes in sessions. You induce a bearing fault, record for a while, then move to the next fault. If the split is random across rows or windows, slices of the same recording land in both train and test, the model recognises the session rather than the fault, and the confusion matrix comes back almost perfect while telling you nothing. The split has to be by session, with whole recordings held out, and I will report it that way so the numbers mean something. Second, the three channels do not live at the same rate. Thermal drifts slowly, pressure moves faster, acoustic carries its signal in the spectrum rather than the raw trace. So acoustic gets framed and turned into band energies or MFCCs, then aligned to a common window with thermal and pressure summarised over that window. Resampling everything to one rate first is where these pipelines usually lose the fault signature. Deliverables as you listed: an acquisition script that runs against the live rig or recorded sessions, a repeatable training script, class-wise precision, recall and F1 with the 5x5 matrix from held-out sessions, and the sensor placement note. How many recordings do you have per fault so far? Ronak

Your acceptance criteria are clear. I can build one reproducible Python pipeline that reads both recorded files and the live sensor stream, aligns thermal, pressure, and acoustic channels, extracts time and frequency domain features, trains the five class model, and recreates every metric from a single command. I work with Python, pandas, scikit learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, time series analysis, and production data pipelines. I will compare a strong tree baseline with a sequence model only if the data volume supports it. The final choice will be based on held out fault runs, not random row splits, to avoid leakage. Deliverables will include: 1. Modular ingestion for live and offline data. 2. Repeatable training and evaluation scripts. 3. Accuracy, precision, recall, F1, confusion matrix, and per class error review. 4. Saved model, dependency file, README, and sensor placement note. 5. A small inference service or script for real time fault probabilities. I can begin with a data audit within 24 hours. My bid is INR 8,000 and 10 days. What stream format, sampling rate, and labeled fault recordings are currently available?

Hi, this is a great fit for my ML background. Here's how I'd deliver your predictive-maintenance pipeline end to end: 1. Data acquisition: a Python logger that captures, time-stamps and stores the thermal, pressure and acoustic channels (CSV/Parquet). The same code runs against the live rig or recorded sessions. 2. Feature engineering: rolling statistics, FFT/spectral features for acoustics, and trend/delta features for thermal and pressure. 3. Modelling: a fully repeatable training script (fixed seeds, config file) comparing Random Forest, XGBoost and CatBoost, plus a small neural net in TensorFlow if it helps, for 5-class classification (normal plus 4 faults). 4. Reporting: class-wise and overall accuracy, precision, recall and F1, and a 5x5 confusion matrix on held-out data. 5. A technical note showing where each sensor should be mounted to detect its fault. Relevant work: I built an ML regression pipeline benchmarking Linear Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost and CatBoost (RMSLE 0.21), and a TensorFlow deep-learning classifier for deepfake detection. I did model evaluation and validation during my GenAI internship. Clean, documented code with a README. I can start today. - Srinivasan
