Magento 1.9 Mysql High CPU load due to "core_session"

Magento 1.9 running on Nginx, php-fpm, PHP7, FPC, Mysql, Memcache stack
Problem: High server load due to Mysql and `core_session` table size increasing rapidly.
After increasing Cookie Lifetime to 31536000 i suspect `core_session` table size increased drastically and hence /usr/sbin/mysqld is taking high CPU usage above 100%
Someone with similar project experience will be preferred.
