I need help with the academic project of Abaqus 2023. In the experimental labs, 250 mm long flat bars with a solid rectangular section, one type made of aluminium and another one made of pinewood, are tested in 3-point bending beyond the elastic limit. In the second experiment, on a larger rig, two 700 mm long aluminium beams, with I-shaped and rectangular hollow sections, respectively, are also tested on a 3-point bending rig up to and beyond the maximum load. You are asked to postprocess, report and qualitatively discuss the results of the experiments. You are also asked to develop a three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear finite element (FE) model of the aluminium flat bar using the FE code ABAQUS and calibrate the material parameters of a suitably chosen elastoplastic model, so that good correlation between numerical and experimental results for the load-displacement curves is obtained. Using the same material parameters you are then asked to conduct a nonlinear FEA for a longer flat bar with the same cross-section but with three holes, clamped on one end and loaded on the other end via a prescribed displacement on the inner face of one of the holes. The FE models will not include damage, fracture or linear eigen-value analyses. I will share rest of details later.
