I am in the nutrition packaging business. We package nutrition supplements into pouches. Our biggest challenge is when we package powder such as proteins and preworkout powders where density of the powders varies greatly. The packaging machine that we use has an auger screw that is housed in a pipe that feeds the pouch the required dosage of grams of powder usually anywhere from 5g to 50g of powder. The challenge we have is that when the powder doses the pouch, there is always a little bit that falls after its dosage cycle and this creates a problem when sealing the pouch because that extra trickle powder that falls, falls in the pouch seal area and it doesn't seal. I would like for a designer to create a stop/leak mechanism to close the pipe after dosing so that the powder doesn't fall anymore just momentarily until the next dosage. At this time the mechanism would open to let the next dosage start and repeat. The mechanism must be very close to width size as the width of the screw feeding pipe that would be located at the bottom dosing mouth of the pipe and it should be like a balloon that opens and closes with a pneumatic piston that can be triggered by the same signal the feeding screw gets to dose.
