one line in your brief is the one worth talking about: review your own code. i would not pretend that works. self-review catches typos and misses decisions, and across twenty-four months it is the decisions that compound. so i would replace it with the two things that do work without a second salary. tests that fail loudly when behaviour changes, and a short written record of why each significant choice was made, written at the time rather than reconstructed a year later. that leads to the real risk in a two-year single-developer build, which is not that the code turns out bad. it is that by month eighteen only one person can safely change it, and you are locked to whoever that is. i work the other way round: the repository, the setup and the reasoning stay clear enough that another developer could pick it up cold. that protects you if i am ill, and it protects you from me. on the data layer, the usual mongo failure is designing it like a relational database and bolting indexes on afterwards. indexes follow access patterns, so i want the main read paths named before the schema hardens, not after the collections are large. on auth i would not hand-roll it. role-based access on a proven library, with the roles defined in one place instead of scattered through route handlers. i work south african hours, utc plus two, which covers the bulk of your working day. what is the application actually for, and is any of it built already?
