We're a dance school based in Greater Manchester, Altrincham, and we're keen to update our database software as soon as possible. Most dance schools use Dancebiz, Class for Kids, Dance Studio Pro or Class Manager which are all online databases. We've trialled some of these but we didn't like the fact that they were online and required a monthly fee; thus if they ever increased their prices (and we could no longer afford it) it would be a huge job switching to another online database. We would rather pay a one off fee, and then perhaps pay for upgrades or added features etc.
We currently use a very old offline database on Microsoft Access which has the following:
- Pupil information form; from pupil information form its creates envelopes for invoices.
- Teacher information form.
- Class information form.
- Dance fees.
- Class registers; from these registers it creates invoices using the dance fees.
- Printable ledger for entering payments.
We cope with this database, but we know it takes longer to complete tasks than it should, plus many parents would prefer to receive invoices by email which isn't possible on this software. Another issue is that we have a Junior School and a Senior School which are ran by 2 different companies. At present we have 2 databases for each company but it would be easier if it was all on one and the database could distinguish which students were part of which school. We would also like to be able to log payments so that we can easily find students who haven't paid. There are other features we would like but this could be discussed further over the phone or in person.
Please could you let us know if this is something you could help us with?
