Hungry Jack’s has launched Australia’s most interactive fast food mobile app and one of the most savvy now available in Australia.
Following eight months in development, the Hungry Jack’s iPhone app is designed to engage, empower and reward customers while driving loyalty through its unique ‘Shake & Win’ feature.
Shake & Win enables users to unlock freebies and discounts with a shake of their phone within a one kilometre radius of a Hungry Jack’s store, allowing a 20 minute window for the prize to be redeemed.
Hungry Jack’s Digital Marketing Manager, Joe O’Keefe said the mobile app was highly interactive, fun and intuitive.
“It shows users how close they are to a one kilometre store radius and within that zone how far they are from a Hungry Jack’s restaurant,” Mr O’Keefe said.
Hungry Jack’s is the first fast food chain to integrate social media with an app that rewards customers for ‘checking-in’ via Facebook with a guaranteed win of one of 200,000 free or discounted products, or buy-one-get-one-free offers.
The app, compatible with iPhones, also features a nutritional calculator and store locator.
“The nutritional calculator gives users unprecedented access to the nutritional content of every Hungry Jack’s menu item, and within seconds tallies the total fat, sodium, protein and energy levels of the user’s chosen meal. Add or delete items and it recalculates the nutritional values,” he said.
“It’s an extension of the work we’ve been doing for the past 18 months to radically improve the nutritional content of our menu with much less fat, sodium and sugar across the board.”
A comprehensive nutritional breakdown of all Hungry Jack’s menu items, allergen information, ingredients and average quantities per serve is available through the app’s menu function.
The Hungry Jack’s mobile app is available free for download from Apple’s App Store from 18 May. It can also be downloaded in-store at any of the 300 plus Hungry Jack’s restaurants which now offer free Wi-Fi. Future consideration will be given to extending the app to other mobile operating systems including Android and Windows.
The Hungry Jack’s app is developed as a native iPhone app, using iOS SDK. It utilises almost all features of the iPhone, including GPS, location services and map integration, accelerometer, dynamic feeds and social media integration.
The GPS and triangulated location coordinates data is pinged to the server to measure the distance between user’s location and the Hungry Jack’s stores nearby, allowing users to check-in only if they are at the location.
The check-in itself can be seamlessly posted to the user’s Facebook wall using Facebook Connect API, and the user can also turn it into a tweet using the Twitter API as well. The store’s data is dynamically retrieved from the server via live feeds, ensuring up to date information.
Once successfully checked-in, users shake to reveal their coupon, utilising the accelerometer of the device. Coupons have an in-built countdown clock, making them available only within 20 minutes of a check-in.
Customers can only shake once a day, once check in with facebook.
