Hi! We are a graduate Behavior Analysis research laboratory operating out of the University of North Texas. As part of our research, we ask people to log/record daily events in their life. We usually have them do this with pen and paper, but we wanted to give our participants the option of recording events digitally. So, we were looking for a very simple "foundational" sort of app that could get us started, and also be built in a way that is capable of having "bells and whistles" added at a later time if we want. Below is a list of the things we're hoping to have included in this initial phone application (also, we don't know how app privacy works but we'd like it to only be accessible by our lab and people we chose)(second also, we would prefer if what is made works for apple and android, but we don't know if that's possible or adds any time/effort/cost).
We need a basic calendar app with a few flexible options built in. We basically want a google calendar that we can mess with a bit more. We want our app to...
-Act like a calendar and allow recording daily events (be able to shift the view to day/week/month)
-Have manipulable subsection for entering information when an event is created (see file for picture)
1. We should be able to add, subtract, and save different log types (e.g., if/when I create an event and select the "exploratory log," it should populate the event with predefined text boxes)
2. We should be able to add, subtract, and save different text boxes within each type of log (e.g., when I select "exploratory log," there should be options to subtract any of the predefined text boxes, add new text boxes, and save/update what will become the new "predefined" text boxes for the next time that log type is selected).
-Two reminder options
1. A reminder you can set at the home screen that allows for setting a designated reminder cycle during a portion of the day (e.g., "Check-in every ____ hrs/minutes between ____ am and ____pm).
2. A reminder you can set for an individual event that you've created, so that it reminds you to record pertinent information about that event after it's done (e.g., "Remind me to record the details of this event ____minutes after it ends).
-Past data should be easily accessible. All we want is to be able to go back and view the records/journaling that is added to each event our participants create, just like someone might look back at the descriptions they added to events for past weeks in their google calendar.
