I have two php web site scripts, one I plan on using for my site(I will call this the good_one) and the other one I dont want to use(which I will call the bad_one).
I would like to use the content which came with the bad_one and add it to the good_one. They both came with MySQL database/table "dumps" or exports(not sure of the correct termanology)
I do not want to manually add this content through the site, which is possible, becuase that would take along time. I think it will be faster and easier to "join" values from one table to another. I know this should be pretty easy to do for someone who knows what they are doing or who has done this before.
The problem I see right off the bat is the fact that the tables are formated a bit differently so I don't think just importing one into the other will work. They have many things in common but like I said they are mixed up as far as the rows go(not sure if this is the proper word for this) For example:
id, name, description, time, size, and the other one is gID, Name, type, width, height.
Im not sure but I think there will be a string that needs to written to do this(once again not sure about the terms.)or maybe there is a GUI program that can do this.
As I said before I really think this can be done easyly. I asked my coder to do it for me but he is allready working on another project of mine and many others too, so he is slammed and does not have the time to commit to this one right now. He did say by looking at it that it could be done.
I will attach both SQL files for you to examine. I will name the one I plan on using in my site the "good_one" and the one I want information to be converted from the "bad_one" and please inform me of the best way to do this and why. The good_one's table is called games and the bad_one's table is called flash which are the names of the two tables that need to be joined.
Note: the good_one came with the database structure itself and a seperate table dump. I am only inluding the table dump(good_one) because it is the part that needs to have the bad_one's info added to. I can explain more if need be on this, but I think when you see the two files you will understand what is happening.
(optional)I would like to learn exactly what it is you are doing if it is not very complicated so I can just do it myself in the future if possible. I did a google search on this but since I never have had this problem before I did not know the proper termanology for the search term.
