Create a template for a document using drag and drop to position fields from a database onto a document template.
The document will have pre-printed areas and blank spaces. We need to be able to drag fields from the sql database and position them onto the document. Some moving around will be necessary and font style and type may change.
Once the document is OK we need to store the coordinates and display details in the database so that the process can be automated in future. There will be many different document formats - we need this process to be used to set up each new document.
Here's a more technical specification.
A facility to enable line up of selected items on a document template in pdf format. At this stage this will include text, QR codes and signatures.
The routine required needs to be able to select specific fields from a listview or a datagrid and then drag and drop these onto a transparent overlay over the document template which is displayed, ideally using iTextSharp. A layout of the database table containing the specific data fields will be supplied.
Once the user is satisfied with the layout, produce a test print by clicking a button.
If all is OK, to store away the selected fields and their co-ordinates in a database table for that template. The system can then produce electronic copies of documents linked to a particular template when required.
There will be many templates and thus a field format for each template is required.
This must be easy to use as, users of the system will be generating the overlays for new templates on a regular basis.
