Project Description: We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with specific expertise in the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem to help us migrate our user authentication and access control from a traditional Active Directory (AD) environment to UniFi Identity (Standard or Enterprise). The primary goal is to centralize user management directly within the UniFi firewall/console, allowing us to decommission our Windows-based Active Directory while maintaining secure, role-based access to our network resources. Scope of Work: UniFi Identity Setup: Configure UniFi Identity (UID) on our UniFi Cloud Gateway. User Migration/Creation: Assist in migrating existing users or setting up a new user directory within UniFi Identity. Authentication Replacement: Set up One-Click WiFi (Radius-less or WPA-Enterprise) using UniFi Identity credentials. Set up One-Click VPN (WireGuard or L2TP) for remote staff, replacing AD-integrated VPNs. Role-Based Access (RBAC): Configure Groups and Roles to ensure users only have access to specific VLANs or resources based on their department. Device Integration: Ensure Windows/macOS endpoints can connect to the network using the new identity-based credentials. Documentation: Provide a brief SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for adding/removing users in the future. Technical Requirements: Proven experience with UniFi Cloud Gateways (UDM-Pro, UDM-SE, or UDW). Deep understanding of UniFi Identity (UID) and Identity Enterprise. Knowledge of RADIUS, VLAN tagging, and 802.1X authentication. Experience in Active Directory environments to ensure a smooth transition and understand legacy permission structures. Ability to work remotely via TeamViewer, AnyDesk, or VPN. Deliverables: Fully functional UniFi Identity environment. Successful authentication of test users for both WiFi and VPN. Decommissioning plan for the current AD authentication (if applicable). Final configuration backup.
