I have installed a small counter service (using graphic images for the digits). The script consists of six .cgi scripts, one .pl script and a text-based data file (no mySQL involved). The script actually works well except for one portion....
In the admin section, there is a link to edit the 'Headers and Footers' so that it changes what the visitors see. It comes with some default text in the text fields so that the admin can see an example.
However, when you click the 'save' button at the bottom, all example text, including what the admin inserts....disappears! The changes are not reflected in the script and I am forced to re-upload everything to get the Headers and Footers section to working again.
If this helps, there is also a 'Display' button, in the admin section, where changes can be made to background colors, font size, face, color, etc.. When the 'save' button is clicked on this section, it works! It makes the requested changes to the script.
I know just enough about PERL/CGI coding to really screw things up, so I prefer to leave it to those who know what they are doing.
If you feel you can correct this and would like to see the script for yourself, please PM me. I will send you a URL to an open directory (whereas you can download or click to see the script in operation).
I would really like to have this thing operating before the end of the weekend!
