The project has various levels that must work together. Firstly, a website that will allow customers to place orders online with a seperate functionality that will allow our Showroom and Travelling sales execuitives place priority orders (ie. sent to us marked as priority). Second, a web based stock management application that will allow us to know exactly what stock we have in our warehouse.
There are a number of different operative interfaces needed. A showroom/salesmen interface that will allow orders to be placed/viewed and will allow stock reports to be viewed, a warehouse interface that will allow orders to be viewed and stock levels to be adjusted and a shippers interface that will allow the shipping agents to enter container contents so that we know exactly what is on the way to our warehouse.
As we exhibit at many shows and also have many shipping agents and factories that supply to us it is imperative that this web based application is very simple, very user friendly and most importantly is stable and accurate.
For orders placed in showroom or by salesmen there should be an invoice created in PDF format with 4 copies, customer, store, warehouse and delivery. For orders placed online the customer should only see the customer copy, with the other 3 copies being sent to an email of our choosing for us to process. When orders are placed the stock levels should reflect that an item is held for delivery. Deliveries can then be confirmed as being sent out from the warehouse interface.
