Perl development assistance is required on major Object Oriented and MVC refactoring of a moderately sized publishing website which was originally written in very undisciplined Perl and SQL. Candidates will be expected to work alongside the current lead developer, and should thus have experience of working in collaboration in development teams according to contemporary practices such as 'Agile', including proper use of version control software - especially Subversion.
Candidates must be familiar with contemporary industry best practices and principles such as OOP, TDD, and have a commitment to writing high quality, readable and robust Perl code. Familiarity with Perl Object Oriented Programming is essential, and a knowledge of Moose an advantage. Ideally the candidate will also be acquainted with a quality web framework, such as Ruby on Rails or Catalyst, and with the principles of contemporary standards-based web development.
Candidates should supply examples of their code demonstrating abilities in accordance with the above description.
