Hello, we are [url removed, login to view], an auto classifieds website. What we need is simple and would take an experienced mod rewrite programmer only about two minutes.
Here's what we need:
When linking to each individual auto listing page, we are currently using the URL generated by our search engine, which generates that page on the fly.
The problem is that the link looks like this:
[url removed, login to view]
...where P1015765 is the individual record ID. (Please note that our individual record IDs may be any combination of letters and numbers.)
For various reasons, we would like to be able to use a URL like [url removed, login to view] and have that automatically redirect to the long URL above ... and to have this work for all of our listings.
It's not important what the user's browser URL box shows during this process. What matters is that [url removed, login to view]*
redirects to [url removed, login to view]*
...where "*" is the file ID specified in the [url removed, login to view] link.
One last thing -- if there is a particular way to do this that is also helpful for SEO, we would prefer to take that approach.
As it's a quick project, if possible we'd like this done in the next day or so. Thank you.
