The idea for the site is to make a local business web. A way for local businesses, where I live, to connect with each other and help each other grow. In a way it's like the Chamber of Commerce. Take a look at the site [url removed, login to view] if you want to see some of what we offer. This is just a preview, the site is not up and running. Just keep in mind that this is a brand new business so I don't have much money to spend on it. Here are some things that I think we would need. I'm sure you have ideas that might be better then these so if you do just let me know. - Admin Area (only viewable by admin) Perhaps the admin area could run the entire backend of the site, membership area, directory, newsletter etc… - Members Area (only viewable by paid members) I'm looking for a password protected part of the site for paid members only. I would update the pages in here. There would be a members only forum, most likely a bulletin board type deal. Also some other links that I will add in for the members. It might be a good idea to just integrate PayPal and 2checkout subscriptions into the sign-up process but we can also have them submit their payment and then start the sign-up process afterwards if it would be easier. I'll also need to be able to add/remove new members manually from the admin area as well in case I want to give someone a free membership or remove a member if there are payment problems. - Member Directory (viewable by everyone) Every paid member will get to have a link to their web site listed in our member directory for everyone to see. We can ask them for their link/category info during the sign-up process then I can approve or deny the link from the admin area. Maybe there should be a section in the members area where they can update their link as well. Also I need to be able to add and remove sites and categories from the directory myself through the admin. Also, I want to make something where they can pay to get their listing moved to the top of the list or make it bold or a different color etc... - Resume submission (anyone can submit but only members can view) I want an area where people can submit their resume and then the members can view them from the members area (after I approve them). There will be a small fee to submit a resume. - Newsletter (to members only) I want to be able to send a monthly newsletter to all registered members email addresses from the admin area. One click sends to all. There should be a manual remove or ‘do not send to' function for me as well. Also perhaps an online version of the newsletter could be saved into the members area as well.
