I am in the process of migrating a mature, stable Apache/PHP web site from one server to another. I noticed the new server acts differently than the old one. The old server uses PHP version 4.3.11. The new server uses PHP version 5.0.4.
The specific problem I am having is all text fields and text areas on the new server do work if the text entered includes a single quotation ' mark. If a single quote is entered into a text area the form is not submitted properly.
I am sure it is possible to write some php code next to the text areas to slash out the single quote. However, I have more then 20 instances where this is a problem. Is there a server-wide or site-wide fix that can be made? I would rather make one fix that covers all affected text areas rather than having to edit each separate web page.
If this is even possible, let me know.
If there is a way to emulate an older version of PHP, please let me know.
The site is mature and rock solid on the old server. So I do not mind forcing the newer version of PHP to act like an older version if that is possible.
I have full Root access to the server.
