We need expert on setting up streaming media files. We need someone with specific expertise in setting up SMIL Files. We also need someone with experience to help us with our streaming media needs. Right now we're streaming .rm and .wmv files through a specific service but also have a streaming media account with Hostcentric. The problem is that they don't support Windows Media so we need another solution that DOES support .rm, .wmv and the SMIL files to synchronize our audio/whiteboard sessions. A positive plus is if you already know how to stream CAMV files and can show us exactly how to do this.
Here's what we need from you: 1) You will be required to set up the first synchronized file for us, then show us specifically how to do this for future use. We already know how to set up the .rm and .wmv files. It's the SMIL files and CAMV files that we need help with. I believe we'll be using Camtasia and Boardcast for the whiteboard sessions. These work in conjunction with each other but we don't know HOW to create the SMIL files to get it all synchronized for the web. We provide the raw audio/whiteboard files and you do the rest. 2) You need to be able to give us a solid recommendation on LOW cost streaming media hosting that supports the SMIL technology for our future needs. You'll need to make sure, in advance, that the host allows us to have direct access to the "plugins" directory on the real server where we can install the required .DLL provided to us. The DLL needs to be installed then the Real Media server needs to be restarted, according to Hostcentric who provides our current real media hosting. The problem is that they will NOT do this and they don't give us access to the plugins directory. We need a host that DOES this or can support this. According to our existing real media server host, they say the following about the DLL file: To stream a .CAMV file from a RealServer, stop RealServer. Copy the [url removed, login to view] file format plug-in from the Camtasia install folder to your RealServer Plugins folder. Restart RealServer. See [url removed, login to view] for more information on how to stream content using RealServer 3) You must be knowledgeable enough to help us get the host to install the DLL necessary to play our CAMV videos in the plugins directory of a real network server if this is something we aren't permitted to do ourselves. 4) You need to help us make sure that the real media streaming server has .sml files registered as a mime type. 5) Finally, you need to show us how to do this ourselves for future sessions and need to make sure that the first session you set up is working perfectly. Obviously we're looking for someone that has existing experience with all of the above. Thank you!
Right now we have an account at Playstream. They do NOT support SMIL files. We also have a Real Media streaming server with hostcentric but they say they do not support Windows Media. We need an "all in one" hosting solution for this. We'll be using: .rm files (Real Media) .wmv files (Windows Media) .camv files (Camtasia Files) We'll be using Boardcast as well. The files we deliver need to be suitable for Cable/DSL and 56 KB dial up connections.
