I am very new to using C & C++ and want to hire someone with experience in: - C and C++ - PostgreSQL (Utilizing the libpq libraries) - Sun Solaris 8 Objective: To create a few working examples of opening a database, posting queries, retrieving results, and closing the connection written in c and c++ using the libpq or other necessary libraries that ship with PostgreSQL. Example #1: Open a database, start a transaction, submit a single query, retrieve the results, end the transaction and close the database. Example #2: Open a database, start a transaction, submit a single query to store a large object (Image or something from a file), end the transaction and close the database. Example #3: Open a database, start a transaction, submit a single query to retrieve a large object (Image or something to file), end the transaction and close the database. Note: I am using the GNU GCC/G++ compiler and postgreSQL version 7.1 running on a Sun Solaris 8 machine. Note: More examples would be nice but these came to mind first. Note: All examples need to include a C and C++ version if there are differences in the code. I am not sure if C++ would utilize the libpq or if there is a different package for C++. If so... Please reflect this in the examples.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working programs/examples in source code form. 2) Good comments. 3) Support for troubles that might occure when attempting to compile and use on destination platform. Past attempts to utilize the examples that ship with PostgreSQL don't seem to work and my attempts to simplify it or start from scratch failed. 4) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
## Platform
Sun Solaris 8
