Image Processing/Recognition Project

We are looking for someone to implement the algorithm described in following paper:

It is composed of simple image processing steps and the calculation of the facial triangle of a humans head to determine horizontal view direction.

For interested folks who don't have immediate access to the paper, the algorithm works as follows:

1) Segment face region from the rest

2) Apply edge detection (i.e., sobel) and thresholding

3) Find lower lip and upper eyebrow coordinates for both sides

4) Construct left and right facial triangles using found markers

5) Calculate area of left/right facial triangle using trigonometry

6) Calculate horizontal view angle from the ratio of the areas

Detailed instructions are found in the 6-page report.

In fact this is not a very complicated algorithm, but the bidder should have proven experience in the field of image processing. Training images are provided and we can supply a series of images to test against to assess accuracy. We expect accuracy to exceed 95%. To make things even simpler, an image is successfully classified if it is only correctly detected whether view direction is either more left or more right. Still, the output of the program should be a horizontal angle between -90° and +90°.
