Rings of Power is fantasy chess game where two or four races vie to capture their opponent&'s powerful, magic ring. Each side takes turns strategizing on which piece to move against an unknown enemy. As the opponent&'s army is revealed, so to is the location of the ring. Once a Ring of Power is captured, the capturing army is infused with magical power, practically insuring victory unless of course their own ring is lost. To complete the victory, the attacker must also destroy the opponent&'s two towers.
The playing field is square like a chess board but can vary in size 10 squares along an edge and 15 square cross for multiplayer. There are five preset playing boards to choose from. Each board has a different terrain set which effects movement and battle outcomes. There can also be treasure, power nodes, and lairs scattered randomly about the map.
Each side has 20 or 30 pieces varying according to player choice. Four player sides always have 21 pieces. There are four races with slight differing troops. Generally speaking fog of war is always on, meaning players can see the position of the pieces but does not know what that piece is until they fight it. Each player takes turns moving one piece at a time. Pieces may move diagonally but automatically reveal themselves for a preset period of time; this option can also be turned off. Pieces may not attack diagonally because they are tired from moving so far.
A player loses when his Ring of Power is captured and both of his towers are destroyed.. In the four player, non-alliance game, if a player loses all of his remaining pieces are routed and removed from the board. When the Ring of Power is captured and the player still has a tower in play, the capturing player gets two advantages. First all remaining pieces gain one attack point. Second, the capturing piece becomes a Ring Lord with a ten attack and two move

We get a lot of applicants who are talented coders but don&'t have art skills. Given the simplicity of the game, art becomes very important and should be of the highest quality. We aim for an 8 or higher rating from Gamespot.

Map can be pre-rendered or tiled. Must just allow for a square overlay and tool tips explaining terrain advantages.
Art will include all windows, buttons, animations, victory animations, sprites, etc.

All original should be done in high quality WAV.
Music will be converted to OGG format.
Plan on all making a sound effect for all animations, button clicks, mis-clicks, special events, etc.
