I was working with a previous contractor to implement a Google Map for our website directory. We have worked together on other projects and he has been great, however we ran short of time and ran into a few hiccups with the new v3 api.
He had previously did a project just like this using the v2 API, but he hasn't kept up on the changes of the v3 API. Therefore, I am requesting a quote for a small coding job that is described in more detail below.
On the map, I'd like to display an individual marker per mySQL database entry, which corresponds to an individual business/breeders, but multiple addresses (If they have multiple locations) for each breeder are maintained within each row. Note that we are completely open to changing this db structure to make this map implementation work.
When a user clicks on an individual US state, I want them to be taken to a general state directory/map page, and I'm doing so by passing a PHP variable via URL. You can see the current directory output here: [url removed, login to view] If you use the following link, you'll be taken to a page of only Indiana breeders: [url removed, login to view]
At the same time, I want the user to be able to do 2 actions: a) click on a link to the right of the map that will only show the selected type of breeder, and b) I want to have a link in the dynamic directory output that would link the user to the map location (map directions).
In addition, I also would like to have users be able to enter their zip code or location (i.e. Des Moines, Iowa) and see breeders within a specific area. As they zoom out, additional locations become available.
I have found another site with a very specific example of exactly what I have in mind and can provide that to interested applicants.
The database structure is quite simple and I'd like to use the addresses to dynamical geocode for purposes of displaying them on the map. This is a feature I wasn't aware of when I originally designed the map system, so I've always been manually batch geocoding the coordinates.
Requisite skills for this job include proficiency with PHP, MySQL, and Google Maps API v3.
